Mishawaka is a statistical area found in St. Joseph County, Indiana, and the city is located on the St. Joseph River. As of 2010, this community had a population was approximately 48,300. This community has been given the nickname of “the Princess City,” and it is the principal city found in the South Bend – Mishawaka, IN-MI Metro Statistical Area. There are a variety of old fashioned neighborhoods found all over the city, and the community has been voted as one of the best places it raise kids in Indiana by BusinessWeek Magazine. Public schools in the area are operated by the local School City of Mishawaka, and higher educational opportunities are available at Bethel College, an evangelical Christian liberal arts institution with approximately 1,700 students.

Mishawka is home to several interesting and unique attractions that may be of interest to area residents or visitors. There are a variety of antique and collectible shops located in Mishawaka, including Ed’s Collectibles, the Mishawaka Sports Museum, and the Nostalgia Store. The Leininger Farms Corn Maze is an especially popular attraction during the autumn months, and there are several movie theaters located in the area, including Cinemark Movies 14 on West Edison Road and Cinemark Movies 6 on Grape Road. Other notable attractions in the area include the Hannah Lindahl Children’s Museum, a Touch of Elegance Day Spa, and Ironwood Hair Styling.

Both home heating and cooling systems will be utilized throughout the year due to Mishawaka’s varied weather conditions. Summers are hot and humid with highs reaching an average of the mid-80s, so an air conditioning unit is important in fending off heat-related illnesses, especially among children, the elderly, and people battling chronic illnesses. During the winter, weather conditions tend to be snowy and cold, and without an efficient heat pump or furnace in place, plumbing and pipework would be liable to freeze and cause costly repairs.
