About Elkhart, IN - Happy to be your hometown Heating & Air Conditioning Contractor!

Elkhart is a city located in Elkhart County, Indiana, and it is situated 15 miles from South Bend and 110 miles from Chicago. As of 2010, the population was approximately 51,000, and the city is situated on the Elkhart and St. Joseph Rivers. This city is well known for its industries in musical instruments and recreational vehicles, and it has been referred to as the “Band Instrument Capital of the World” and the “RV Capital of the World” for decades. Notable residents of Elkhart include Olympic gold medal swimmer Lindsay Benko, Pulitzer Prize winner Charles Gordone, and actress Jean Hagen.

Elkhart is home to a variety of cultural opportunities and attractions. There are several museums found in the city, including the Woodlawn Nature Center, the Midwest Museum of American Art, and the National New York Central Railroad Museum. The Lerner Theatre is a small theatre located in the downtown area, and there are 35 different recreational facilities in the community including parks, golf courses, a waterpark, and a downtown river walk, which features a roller blading and ice skating path. The Concord Mall serves as the main shopping center in the community, and it is located on the south side of the city, and special events in Elkhart include the Elkhart Air Show and the Elkhart Jazz Festival.

Elkhart is part of a humid continental climate zone, and residents will need to utilize home heating and cooling systems at various points during the year. July is the hottest month of the year with average highs in the mid-80s, but high humidity can make it feel even warmer. A reliable air conditioning system can help residents to stay cool while also improving indoor air quality by removing allergens and other pollutants. Likewise, average high temperatures in the winter may fail to reach the freezing point, and when combined with frequent snowfall, dangerous conditions may exist. A heat pump or furnace system can ensure the safety of Elkhart residents during these frigid winter months.
